The Mission Australia Youth Survey is Australia’s largest online youth survey, providing a platform for young people aged 15 to 19 to ‘speak up’ about the issues that really concern them.

Each year, the Youth Survey gives valuable insights into the lives of young Australians and an understanding of their aspirations, values, concerns and ambitions. The survey provides a snapshot of how young people feel about their own lives and broader national issues.

Mission Australia CEO James Toomey urges young people across Australia to get involved and speak up in the charity’s 18th annual Youth Survey. “The Youth Survey is turning 18 this year and we want to hear from as many young people across the country as we can. The Youth Survey offers many important insights into young people’s lives and experiences of growing up in Australia. It equips organisations like Mission Australia with current evidence on how young people are faring so we can advocate on their behalf for the community services and broader policy changes that they need.”

Our 2018 Youth Survey—which captured the voices of more than 28,000 young people between the ages of 15 and 19—included 1,623 (6%) young people who indicated they were living with a disability. Mission Australia wants to grow this number in 2019 so that even more young people with mixed abilities can have their say about the issues they care about and the policies that affect them!

The survey closing date has now been extended! The survey closes on the 9th of August 2019, with results to be analysed and released before the end of the year.
