The Inner Melbourne VET Cluster (IMVC) is a not-for-profit organisation which has been working with at risk young people and other marginalised cohorts who experience barriers to education and employment for over 20 years.
They are currently seeking mentors as part of their Youth2Industry program. Youth2Industry is a tailored VCAL program based in South Melbourne, for young people with learning and support needs seeking a successful pathway to secure work, training or education. As part of Youth2Industry, young people participate in a mentor program, learning from the experiences of others to increase their social confidence and become more empowered to make informed career decisions. The mentor program supports the work placement students undertake and helps them prepare for this experience, as well as contextualize it better within the broader employment market.
As part of the 2019 program mentors are appointed over an eight week period for 2 hours per week from June until late August. Mentors are provided with training and materials to guide their discussions with the young people.
