Construction has commenced on Australia’s first purpose-built accessible alpine accommodation for all-abilities winter sport enthusiasts in Falls Creek.
From beginners to aspiring Paralympians, the new Howmans Gap Alpine Centre will give all-abilities skiers the chance to hone their skills in the heart of one of Australia’s best ski fields.
The state-of-the-art facility will come complete with 36 beds, and will be the new base for Disabled Wintersport Australia and its fun Snow Sport and Green Season Programs.
The Howmans Gap Alpine Centre is being developed with universal design principles at its heart, making sure people living with a disability can participate in the sports they love feeling safe and independent.
The centre project is in partnership with the Victorian YMCA and Disabled Wintersport Australia.
The project was made possible by a $3.1m funding package from the Victorian Government.
