Vision Impaired Children’s Swimming Program (VICSP)
The VICSP offers individual 30minute lessons to children with vision impairments. The lessons aim to establish:
- Water confidence
- Water safety
- Survival skills
- Swimming technique
The programs aims to facilitate a child’s transition into mainstream swimming programs; either through the family’s local pool, or through a school swimming program.
The program acts as a resource for mainstream swimming coaches who may be seeking to make their programs (group and individual) more accessible to vision impaired children in their community.
All coaches involved in the program are appropriate trained and have experience in working with children with vision impairment.
The program caters for preschool and primary school aged children
When Is the Program Held?
The VICSP currently operates during the school terms, during the summer months, and sometimes extended through the autumn and winter terms dependent upon demand and coach availability.
Approximately $80-$100 per term, dependent on funding.
