As named by Athletics Australia on 30 September, 37 athletes will proudly represent Australia to compete at the 2019 World Para-athletics Championships in Dubai, UAE, from 7-15 November.
Among these athletes, several names are gold medalists veteran from Rio 2016 Paralympic Games (Brayden Davidson, Scott Reardon, and James Turner). 23 members were part of 2017 World Para-athletics Championships, where they brought home 11 gold, 9 silver, and 8 bronze medals. Eight athletes also set out to make their world championships debut through this championships in Dubai.
With this combination of 38 athletes and 25 staff, Jon Turnbull, the Athletic Australia's Paralympic Program Manager, is optimistic that Dubai would be the first testing field for Australia against the best of the best in the world. As Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games are yet to come, this championship would be the perfect opportunity for athletes to compete for a place on the 2020 Australian Paralympic Team.
