- Find An Activity
Wednesday, March 20, 2019 to Thursday, March 21, 2019
Do you want to increase participation in sport and active recreation? If yes, join Vicsport at the 2019 Sport Jam – a design thinking workshop for sports administrators, both paid and volunteer.
Together we will tackle one critical question:
How might we positively influence people’s lives through sport and physical activity?
We’ll look through lenses like demographics, life stages, habits, barriers and social influences to develop creative solutions to drive greater health equity and positive social outcomes for our diverse community.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
This hands-on, two-day workshop will equip participants with the tools and mindsets necessary to tackle complex problems and design creative solutions. We will teach you how to use design thinking to help your organisation innovate and grow.
You will learn:
- How to clearly define and interrogate a problem and recognise opportunities.
- Techniques to build empathy with your target audience.
- Creative problem-solving skills relevant to the sport and active recreation context.
- How to test and refine ideas with potential participants.
- Useful, efficient processes to help you to grow participation in sport and active recreation.
BE A TEAM CAPTAIN
You’ll spend most of the two days in small groups with 1-2 appointed team captains. The role of the captain is to be a positive leader within the group and keep everyone on track with the activities. Captains will receive an extra half-day briefing on Wednesday 6 March to prepare them to lead a group. If you would like to be a team captain, please express your interest when you register below or email Tom Dixon at email@example.com by Friday 1 March.
This workshop will be co-facilitated by Vicsport (the peak body for sport in Victoria) and Portable, a digital design and technology company proudly born in Melbourne. For over a decade, Portable has been at the forefront of design and technology, working with governments and for-purpose organisations to drive change.
