PEGS Swim Academy is a new swim school and squad swimming provider located at Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School. We have a specialised Squad and Learn to Swim program specifically designed to cater for Swimmers with a disability.
All ages and abilities are catered for- from the very beginning stages of Learn-to-swim to National competition squads. Small class sizes and one-on-one instruction allow us to cater to all abilities.
Lessons are weekly, 30 minute long lessons. Classes are capped at 3 swimmers, in order to ensure that all swimmers receive individual feedback and attention. Skills taught in this program range from vital water safety skills, to efficient stroke development, to an introduction to racing. Learn to Swim Classes are $17 per week, and enrolments are per school term. Private lessons are also available if one-on-one instruction is appropriate or desired.
Squad sessions offered are either 1 hour or 1.5 hours in length. There is a strong focus on technique, which is incorporated into a program developing aerobic fitness. Race skills and stroke mechanics are developed. The SWD Squad has a maximum of 4 swimmers per coach. Squad sessions are also $17 per class, with a discount applied if swimmers are attending more than one session.
Starting in Term 4, Learn-to-swim classes will be offered weekday evenings from 5.30-7.00, and Saturday mornings from 9.00-12.00. Squad sessions are running on Saturdays from 10.00-11.00am and Wednesdays from 5.00-6.00pm, with more sessions to be added next term.
