Dimitri at the Phoenix Park Table Tennis Club

The Phoenix Park Table Tennis Club in Malvern East, is a community based sports club providing table tennis for all members of the community. They welcome people of all ages and all abilities, enabling everyone to enjoy the exciting sport of table tennis.

Dimitri, a young man with a disability, has attended the Phoenix Table Tennis Club for more than 2 years. He started at the beginner’s level without any previous experience, and since he joined the club he has learned the basic skills of the game, and greatly improved both his performance and his motor skills.

Dimitri's mother says "the most important thing is the atmosphere at the club, Paul (Bronstein, club coach) has brought a great group of people together and there is always someone to chat to about many different topics! Dimi really enjoys coming to the club because he has met and played with so many different people there, it has become an important part of his everyday activities. The club is an important place for Dimi."

Offering coaching sessions for people of all abilities on Mondays and Thursdays during the school term, Paul is dedicated to assisting those with physical and intellectual disabilities to play table tennis in a fun and supportive environment.
