What is FIDA?
The Football Integration Development Association provides opportunities for people with an intellectual disability to take part in a structured Australian Football competition. FIDA plays games fortnightly throughout the AFL season and has teams based right through Metropolitan Melbourne and Regional Victoria.
FIDA is open to Males and Females between the ages of 14 – 40 with an intellectual disability and aims to foster inclusion, fun, fitness and friendship. For more information on how to become involved head to the FIDA website at www.FIDA.org.au
AFL Victoria Programs
The NAB AFL Auskick program provides opportunities for children between the ages of 5-12 to take part in Australian football. Auskick is a great way to learn the basic skills of the game, meet new friends and most importantly have fun. Currently AFL Victoria are working on an Access All Abilities Auskick Strategy that aims to provide better access for people with a disability to become involved with Australian Football, however there are already AAA Auskick centres operating throughout Victoria.
