For 40 years Special Olympics have brought people with intellectual disability together with passionate volunteers to participate in weekly sports training, regular competition, fun and friendship. Special Olympics provides year-round sports training in multiple sports as well as competition at local, state, national and international level. The pinnacle of our competition in Victoria is coming up with the Special Olympics Victoria State Games held over the weekend of Saturday April 1st and Sunday April 2nd. Most sports will be held at the Veneto Club (191 Bulleen Rd, Bulleen), with swimming at the adjacent Carey Grammar Sports Complex and athletics held at the Box Hill Athletics Track all day Saturday April 1st. All are most welcome to come down and support athletes that are having a go, competing for medals and the chance to represent Victoria at the National Games in Adelaide in April 2018.

This special event is a great opportunity to see Junior Balloon Football in action, and support players from across the state.

During 2016, students from special developmental schools across Victoria participated in Balloon Football training clinics facilitated by senior Balloon Football Leaugue® players and Scope’s Community Inclusion team.

The Junior BFL program provides pathways to participation in sport and active recreation for children with complex and multiple disabilities.

Students from these schools have formed representative teams and will be competing in an inter-school competition for the Junior BFL Cup.

The AFL Victoria School Holiday Program introduces both boys and girls who are turning 5 and turning no older than 12 in the year they register to the basic skills of Australian Football.

It builds on the skills of children who have already been introduced to the game and also teaches children with limited to no experience of Australian Football to the skills of the game. NO experience is necessary; this is the perfect place to give it a try.

The program is a fun and inclusive program for boys and girls and includes skill development, fun activities, minor games and modified games. The holiday program provides a fun, exciting and safe environment for children to develop their skills whilst interacting with others.

The program is delivered by Level 1 accredited coaches, with a coaching ratio of no more than 20 participants per coach.

Girls Only Groups *Available at all Metropolitan Melbourne Programs. (Subject to numbers)


Holiday Programs run from 9:00am - 3:00pm. The Basic Holiday Program is run as a single day program.

What to bring:

AFL Victoria advise participants to wear comfortable clothing as they will be involved in physical activity during the program as they learn and further develop their skills in Australian Football.

Most people will wear a pair of football boots, as well as football socks, shorts and a jumper however if you are just starting out wear something comfortable. Why not wear your favourite AFL team Jumper?

*Please note that some Holiday Programs will be held at indoor venues to allow for extreme weather conditions, you will be notified of this on the website and prior to the program. Children attending indoors sessions MUST bring runners/sneakers to participate as no foobtall boots will be able to be worn indoors.

Children should bring a drink bottle, snacks and lunch as food and drink will not be provided. Children are encouraged not to share food and drink on the day for health and safety reasons.

Little Athletics Victoria welcomes children of all abilities to compete at Centre, Region and State competitions. We aim to provide an inclusive environment in which barriers to involvement are removed and all people with a disability feel welcome and comfortable to participate.

Centre Competitions

Athletes with a disability will often be fully integrated into the standard program. Discuss with your local Centre regarding their program and facilities and whether modifications may need to or can be made to suit the requirements of your child. Use our Find a Centre resource.

Region Championships

Any athlete is permitted to enter their Region Championships as an able bodied athlete as long as they meet event participation requirements.

There will be no Multi-Class specific events held at Region Championships.

LAVic Multi-Class Invitational Event

  • Little Athletics Victoria host an invitational event for Multi-Class athletes. This event is not a State Championship, but will be held on the same day & venue as the Championships.

  • Classifications are not required for Little Athletics.

  • Results will be recorded for athletes but they will not be adjusted according to their disability (using the MDS table) and medals will not be awarded.

  • The focus of this event is participation and allowing athletes with a disability to compete with other like athletes.

  • Following the event, each athlete will receive a certificate listing their results. Results will also be available via our website's 'Live Results'.

  • Direct entry to this Championship will be permitted, with no participation requirements or cost to the athlete.

  • This event is open to all athletes regardless of whether they are LAVic registered.

  • Events offered will be 100m, 800m, Long Jump and Discus.

  • All events will be held on Saturday 11th March at Lakeside Stadium, Albert Park.

  • Draft times for Multi-Class Events are; Discus (9:30am), 100m (12:20pm), 800m (2:45pm) and Long Jump (3:45pm).

  • Entries close Thursday 23rd February 11:59pm.

  • Note: One parent is allowed to accompany their child to their event if required. If you have any specific requirements (ie. equipment or assistance) please contact


Bayside Hockey club is a safe, welcoming and inclusive club. The program will be run by trained coaches and is desigend for skill development, participation and fun.
